Starship was asked to create a stand-alone label for the Mang: a blended red wine made of the grape varieties on the Peerick Vineyard, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Shiraz, creating a full-bodied red blend that is one of the most well-known and sought-after blends in the world. Targeted at the local market, the Mang is slated to become Peerick's flagship label. Its brand is derived from the postal code where the vineyard is located.
Roadmap
Inspired by the gorgeous, rugged landscape of the Pyrenees wine growing region, the label was designed to contrast the elegance of its typography with the vitality of the environment where the grape varieties are grown. A hint of the Peerick pattern traces the background, acknowledging the history of the land and its traditional custodians.
As a full-bodied wine best paired with red meat and hearty fare, the Mang uses red foil highlights on its label to hint at the type of wine within, as well as a stark contrast in photography that speaks to the sophistication and proudly Australian nature of the wine.
